Parnassus is one of my favorite bookstores. There is a great selection of books, the staff is extremely helpful, and I love the layout of the bookstore. I always leave the store with more books than I planned on buying!
This was a neat little place. I enjoyed going and seeing it as I had wanted to go for some time. I love supporting locally owned bookstores. The prices are a bit high though, making it hard to justify buying more than one book. I only got two books and spent nearly $70. There was nothing special about either one, and one was just a paperback. No one was overly friendly or helpful like a lot of smaller bookstores and the set up, while super neat made it harder to find books. It is really loud in here which is fine but unexpected for a bookstore. I'm glad I went but probably won't go back.
Delightful book store, atmosphere makes you want to stay awhile. Great selection and organization. I know space is a limitation, but it would be nice to have more reading nooks.
Large, bright comprehensive independent book store located in a busy and high end area of Nashville. The bookstore is arranged nicely, staff helpful. They are knowledgeable and have many visiting authors. Their recommendations are helpful. Love independent bookstores, sincerely appreciate their love of books, their support of all authors and their insight into books that I may otherwise miss. MUCH prefer to support independents than purchase books via that online company whose trucks run around every town in America. Well Done PARNASSUS!

I live in Baltimore and normally buy my books from Amazon; however, after seeing AP during a book tour and hearing her rational argument for patronizing Independent Book stores, and being a small business owner myself, I decided to take a chance and buy a book from their website. It was a seamless and easy transaction, and I got my book in a reasonable amount of time. I'm glad I chose Parnassus!
I moved away from Nashville almost 5yrs ago but Parnassus Books is still where I order 95% of my books and where I request ALL of my book gifts from. We also have their mugs which are our FAVORITE household mugs and I recently got one of their t-shirts. This bookstore is an absolute gem and their customer service is top notch. This store must be protected at all costs - it is one of a kind!
